Obuse is a town near Jigokudani Monkey Park, and is a beautiful little town where the famous ukiyo-e artist Hokusai spent his final years.
Obuse is also famed for chestnuts, which you can sample steamed with rice or in ice cream and sweets.

Obuse is not a town that was made for tourism. Industries such as chestnut confectionary production, in which production is carried out in the traditional manner, and a unique culture, which has been cultivated and handed down over the ages, have blended into the natural environment and are kept alive as is in the present town.
